Education Technology Implementation Plan

1. As an educator, I plan to use technology this year to enrich my student's education and add a creative side to the lesson plans to engage students in the learning process and attract them to the content of the lesson
2. My 3 top technology priorities for 2010-2011 are to…
Priority 1: Use my blog effectively in my lesson plans and teaching process
Priority 2: Teach my students how to create an educational blog and use it to expand their thinking
Priority 3: Communicate with parents through the blog to make them knowledgeable about their children's education
3. These are my top priorities because I believe that blogging is the current method that students are enthusiastic to use and communicate through. Also, it's blogs are easy-access method for parents to know more about their children and stay connected with me as an educator. It will be easier for working mothers or fathers to share their thoughts or concerns with me without needing to come to school in person.
4. In order to achieve Priority 1, I will (when, how, etc.)…
I am learnt a lot in the workshop and still learning how to create a blog and how to master its options. I am looking at videos in YouTube and looking at other teacher's blogs to get more ideas on how to use blogs in the teaching process.
5. In order to achieve Priority 2, I will (when, how, etc.)…
I planned a lesson on : what are blogs and why should we use them. This lesson will be presented during next week (since we just started semester 3 and students still exploring the new theme ) . I planned for a lesson and posted in my blog, so students will use the posted lesson plan in the blog to learn.
6. In order to achieve Priority 3, I will (when, how, etc.)…
I am planning to set a date with parents to discuss the importance of being involved in their children's education. Therefore, I will present the blog for them, showing them how to communicate with me in case they have any questions or thoughts.
7. The following are people in my school and community that can help me achieve my top 3 priorities…
A- The principle will be informed about the parents meeting
B- B-Social workers will contact parents to come to the parents meeting
C- Computer teacher will assist me during the parents meeting to help parents log in and explore the blog and learn how to post a comment.
8. I will evaluate my progress towards achieving my priorities by…
1- Assessing student's use of the blog and their participation in the lesson plans posted in the blog

9. I plan to improve and update my knowledge of education technology by participating in more workshops about using technology in the classroom and using internet to learn from other educators in the world.

Digital world is the current world we live in and we have to be updated about the changes that happen every day to be able to stay connected with student's minds and the new inventions they explore every day.

Writing a biography about "Diana Spencer"
1- Watch the following video and answer : what are the important points/elements we should include in a biography

2- Fill in the table : Students will predict the following words (Birth - Name - Left school - First job - current job- accomplishments - marriage - children - death)
4- Share your information with your group, show students a picture of "Diana Spencer"
5-Check students information and ask them to write a short paragraph about "Diana Spencer"
6- Invite students to talk about "Diana Spencer" in class to check their information
7- Encourage students to choose a famous person and write his biography using the same table
8- Allow students to share their writing with their groups , then with the class
9- Ask students to write a biography about themselves.

Lesson Plan
I. Background Information
- Title: Milestones and memories "writing a biography"
- Subject: English
- Grade(s): eight
- Group size: 30 students
- II. Description
- Introduction:
In this lesson, students are going to discuss life milestones . They will learn what is a biography , what are the information included in a biography and how to write a biography. Students will watch videos and collect information. This way they will use their creative thinking and research skills .
Students will able to :
- Learn new vocabulary (birth, marriage, death, born, age, life, accomplishments, family )
- Learn what is a biography and what is used for.
- Search for information using internet.
- Write a biography about a famous person of their choice.
- Explain how the lesson plan will promote critical thinking and creativity.
1. Students will search for information on the internet
2. They will be able to decide which websites to use.
3. Students will follow the directions of the lesson plan and apply the instructions
4. Students will work in small groups to talk about the person they chose.
- Explain how this lesson plan encourages students to use digital tools and resources to research, explore real world issues and to collaborate.
Expand student's thinking and motivate them to research about famous people in the world.
Encourage students to look at others accomplishments in life and what made them famous and special
Motivate student's to think about their own accomplishments in life and how they want their life to be in the future.

IV. Procedures
- Explain the idea of the lesson and what are they going to learn
- Introduce the new vocabulary, so they focus on hearing them in the video
- Watch the video: Tips for writing a biography
- Write what information included in a biography
- Provide students with a table with the main information needed to write a biography (birth – name – school – university – first job – last job – accomplishments – marriage – children – death )
- Show students a biography about "Diana Spencer" and ask them to complete the previous table about her
- Encourage students to talk about "Diana Spencer" in their group and share information they heard
- Invite students to talk about "Diana Spencer" in class to check their information
- Encourage students to write their ideas and emphasize what tense should they use while writing.
- Encourage students to choose a famous person and write his biography using the same table
- Allow students to share their writing with their groups , then with the class.
- Ask students to write a biography about themselves.
